The Wine Gang Christmas Fair

On Saturday 15th November Jon, Ben and Lucy attended the first Wine Gang Event this Christmas. Vinopolis was the stunning location for the day’s event, brilliantly located in the shadows of Borough Market, near Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and the Tower of London.
 The stunning location: Vinopolis
“Our central London location is right next door to the fabulous Borough market and is surrounded by great places to eat and drink, so tickets to the fair will guarantee a great day out - or a great gift for the wine lover in your life!”

The hugely popular event sold out in days, and as midday loomed there was a real buzz of anticipation as an expectant queue of thirsty attendees waited patiently outside.
CellarVie Wines chose to show twelve wines from all over the world; one Prosecco and a sparkling Italian Rosé, four whites which included amongst others an indigenous Grillo from Sicily and a beautifully elegant Chilean Sauvignon Blanc from the Casablanca Valley. The six delicious reds included a suitably festive Bordeaux and a very drinkable Carignan made from old vines in Southern France.
 "A Special Sparkler"
The wines proved to be extremely popular, highlighted by the large number of people who took part in our competition for a chance to win £100 worth of wine. The contestants were photographed with their favourite wine from the day’s tasting. The ‘Aussie Belter’, the JJ Hahn Western Ridge Planting Shiraz, and ‘The Great Sicilian’, Costanza di Mineo’s Magnus Siculus proved to be the most popular throughout the day. Honourable mentions must go to the ‘Special Sparkler’, Fantinel’s ‘One and Only’ Single Vineyard Vintage Prosecco, and ‘The Big Zin’, which was The Federalist Zinfandel, from Dry Creek Valley in California. Take a look at the wines we took here.

With eighty entrants to the competition and over forty people answering our questionnaire, there was a really great atmosphere around Table 44; displayed at the back of the Wine Gang’s tasting booklet, saving the best till last!
 "The Great Sicilian"
We thoroughly enjoyed the event and the feedback we received on all of our wines was greatly received.
CellarVie Wines’ General Manager, Jonathan Carson said: “As an online business we get real satisfaction in attending these events and presenting our unique selection of wines to a new audience.”
“At Wine Gang London, we found everyone in attendance to be engaging and very open to our offering. What mattered most was the hugely positive feedback our wines received. Everyone appeared to thoroughly enjoy our selection and the reaction to our general proposition, particularly our 24 hour delivery service and overall company ethos, was immensely encouraging.”

The winner of our #Myfavewine competition was Mr Graham Fever, whose photograph was selected at random by our owner Christopher Carson. Mr Fever chose the JJ Hahn Western Ridge 1975 Planting Shiraz as his favourite wine. During the day entrants’ selections were shared on CellarVie Wines’ twitter account.

Here’s what Graham Fever told us about the event:
"I had planned my day at the Wine Gang fair with military precision. When I approached the CellarVie stand I had one objective, to taste their Western Ridge Shiraz. I was initially disappointed to be queuing with many other eager punters, but Lucy stepped in to talk about the wines and this competition. I never expect to win but posed for her photograph. After a brief chat I was able to taste the Shiraz which was excellent and, with the added bonus of 33% off, very good value. I have already placed an order so winning this prize is an added bonus. I wish CellarVie and their very friendly staff all the best in the future."
 "The Big Zin"

We are attending the Wine Gang event in Bath this Saturday on the 22nd November, and we are on table 11. Please do drop by to try some of our wines, meet the team and of course for your chance to win an e-voucher worth £100 to spend on CellarVie Wines!

Time to say goodbye to those fresh, summer whites and replace them with the warmer, more robust reds frequently associated with colder temperatures.
