London Cocktail Week and London Restaurant Festival

With London Cocktail Week (LCW) and London Restaurant Festival both beginning next week, the first half of October is looking rather exciting for food and drink fans in London.

London Cocktail Week
In its fifth year, London Cocktail Week begins on Monday October 6 2014. For seven days, the largest drinks festival in the country celebrates London’s vibrant cocktail culture. More than 200 of the finest bars will open their doors to offer the best cocktails around town. An event to inspire and unite the cocktail lovers of London? Don’t mind if we do.

Purchase a £10 LCW wristband from www.londoncocktailweek.com, peruse the events on offer on the website and head out for a week of fun and £4 signature cocktails.
From Master classes, tastings, pop-up bars and parties, you’ll be sure to find multiple events that tick all the boxes. Find out how to match rum with your food, join the world’s largest rum tasting and visit the world’s first floating distillery.

The London Restaurant Festival
The London Restaurant Festival runs from 8-27 October 2014. The festival is a city-wide celebration of the fantastic restaurants and chefs that London has to offer. Go along and sample some of the best food and wine in the city.

Whatever your budget, you will find your match at the many events that are taking place throughout the three weeks. From exclusive food and drink set menus by many of London’s best restaurants to a diverse range of different events, London Restaurant Festival promises to banish those autumn blues and provide you with a foodie extravaganza.

Champagne giants Laurent-Perrier are offering a choice of three different Gourmet Odyssey’s. Their innovative road trip lets you travel in style across the capital in a fleet of London Restaurant Festival Routemaster buses. The lucky ticket holders will experience their first course in one top London restaurant, the main in another and dessert in a third. Each course will of course be served with Laurent-Perrier Champagne in what promises to be a unique and unforgettable event.

Cinephiles can attend the world-famous photographer Rankin’s Italian-themed event inspired by the celluloid masterpiece, Cinema Paradiso. After a complimentary cocktail, you will get to watch the fantastic film accompanied with a box of gourmet popcorn. Afterwards, enjoy an exquisite, Cinema Paradiso inspired three course dinner created by BAFTA 195 Piccadilly’s Head Chef, Anton Manganaro.

Check out the festival’s website for more details of the many events on offer.

Laurent-Perrier Brut L.P. NV £30.99
France|Champagne

Noted for its lighter, flowerier and elegantly fruity style smells and tastes of grapefruit zest - delicious. There's a high percentage of Chardonnay in the blend making it a more delicate and floral Champagne.

Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut NV £45
France|Champagne

Unquestionably a leader in Champagne. Made, unusually, using 100% Pinot Noir grapes from Grand Cru villages. The grapes are allowed only 3 days brief contact with the skins to give the wine that glorious pink colour. Very fashionable and with good reason -what a treat!

Laurent Perrier Cuvée Ultra Brut NV £45
France|Champagne

Surprising depth and power, with a purity and concentration of flavour all its own. Amazingly well balanced and absolutely bone dry. Winemaker Alain Terrier selects only the ripest grapes to make this unique wine that has no ‘dosage’ - the sweet liquor added to the wine to adjust the sweetness level prior to release. As a result the balance of sugar and acidity must be perfect at the time of harvest. 55% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir, the wine is matured for 4 years before release. Ideal both as an aperitif and for those who want to drink possibly one of the least calorific wines. It is real dry.

Laurent Perrier Brut, Millesime 2004 £45
France|Champagne

The Brut Millésimé offers outstanding finesse and delicacy.

BBQ Spatchcock Piri-Piri Chicken

Summer has come to a close and autumn is well and truly on its way. Blustering winds, cooler temperatures and swiftly shortening days mean it will soon be time to wrap up warm and to make the most of the wonderful autumn produce on offer. Time to say goodbye to those fresh, summer whites and replace them with the warmer, more robust reds frequently associated with colder temperatures.
