Meet The Team

Jonathan
General Manager
When it comes to wine you could say that Jon is a chip off the old block - following “in my old man’s footsteps”, as he puts it. Having started his wine career while still at school by working in the vineyards of the south of France during various vintages, Jon quickly worked out that this back-breaking work was not for him.  Post University Jon sought something a little less physical and a touch more glamorous and worked for a wine marketing agency in Paris. Jon founded CellarVie Wines in 2010 with his father, Christopher and is now charged with driving the business forwards.

Aside from his passion for wine Jon loves cooking and spending as much time as possible with his young family. Jon used to be a keen sportsman but now this passion for sport is spent on the sidelines watching Tottenham and cricket.

Family and friends (OK two things I can’t live without) although I do struggle when there is no football in the summer!
Simon
Customer & Operations Director
Armed with a Master's degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering Simon found himself looking for a job. Little did he know that a snap decision would change the direction of his career. Ideally he wanted to go into engineering but the bills had to be paid and so a temp job seemed like a good solution. The agency offered him two choices; working for a wine merchant or a debt collection company. Bit of a no brainer really. He plumped for wine.

The attraction of wine has kept his feet firmly on the ground since then and he has become somewhat of an expert not just in the liquid, but is something of an expert in planning and analysis, logistics and operations management having spent eight years working for the UK's largest wine mail order companies. In his spare time he is somewhat of a film buff and is definitely the go-to-guy for any information on movies past and present, sometimes if you're lucky he even loans out some gems from his own collection!

Three perfect dinner guests (dead or alive)?
Hmmm I reckon Groucho Marx, Leonardo da Vinci and Alexander the Great would make for some pretty interesting debates (admittedly I would need some translators)

Favourite place; holiday destination or other?
Space - while admittedly the climate isn't great (in fact it's positively hostile) and it is pretty expensive to get to outer space is the place I would most like to visit.

Perfect meal?
Although technically not one single dish, the best meal I've had was 7 course dinner party where every course was made by a different friend and matched specially selected wine. Thai noodle balls, avocado mousse, Tournedos Rossini..... It lasted for about 7 hours but was amazing.

Favourite film?
Too hard so I'm going for three. Classic - Lawrence of Arabia. Geeky - Empire Strikes Back. Ecletic - Ring (Japanese version).

Favourite book?
Catch - 22

Heroes growing up?
Kermit the frog and Clint Eastwood. Why they didn't made a film together I'll never understand.

The one thing you can’t live without?
My friends and family. A boring answer but true.

The most interesting place i've visited is the Salt Flat in Bolivia, I'll never forget swimming in the Jade waters of Paraty in Brazil, and my most recent favourite place was camping in Scotland with good company and a good bottle of wine overlooking Loch Lomond in Scotland.

Perfect meal?
I can't fault the Italian Cuisine, so if i'm fed pasta dishes, cold meats and cheeses, i'm a happy girl!

Lucy
Marketing Executive
A recent graduate of French and Spanish, Lucy has been fortunate enough to live in both Uruguay and Bordeaux where she quickly developed a passion for all things great; cooking and wine! She has used her languages as an excuse to travel round South America, where she taught in a school in the south of Chile, trekked through the Amazon jungle and visited Machu Picchu. Lucy’s love for Asian cuisine is the reason behind her recent trip round Asia, the highlight of which was a trek and homestay with a hill tribe in Northern Vietnam.

Lucy enjoys cooking unusual and exotic dishes which she then matches with her favourite wines, and she is looking forward to making the most of this on the blog sections of CellarVie.
